Several weeks ago we wrote to you concerning a labor dispute between Teamsters Local 284 and Republic Waste Services. We are pleased to inform you that a work stoppage has been avoided. On April 7, 2019, Local 284 members ratified a new four-year collective bargaining agreement.
The new labor agreement provides for annual wage increases and maintains high-quality health insurance for employees and their families without employee contributions to premiums or increases to employee cost-sharing.
As a result of successful collective-bargaining between Local 284 and Republic, there will be no disruption of services to area businesses and residents and Local 284-represented working families will continue to receive a good wage and benefits. This outcome confirms the vital role strong unions play in ensuring that economic prosperity is shared with workers and their communities.
The new labor agreement with Republic is the 25th successful contract negotiation conducted for Teamsters Local 284 members in the past two years.
Thank you for your continued support of fellow Teamsters Local 284 members and the collective-bargaining process.
